Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport a variety of goods and materials to designated locations within Lagos and surrounding areas, strictly adhering to predetermined delivery schedules and routes.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, meticulously ensuring they are in optimal working condition and promptly reporting any mechanical issues, damages, or necessary maintenance.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all deliveries, including mileage covered, fuel consumption, delivery times, and obtaining proper delivery confirmations from recipients.
- Ensure the utmost security and integrity of cargo during transit, strictly adhering to all company safety protocols, loading procedures, and national traffic regulations.
- Assist diligently with the loading and unloading of goods as required, ensuring proper handling, care, and protection of all items to prevent damage.
- Communicate effectively and proactively with the logistics team, dispatchers, and clients regarding delivery status, potential delays, or any unforeseen issues encountered on the road.
- Adhere rigorously to all company policies, operational procedures, and relevant local and national transportation laws and regulations.
- Maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and general good condition of the assigned company vehicle at all times.
- Represent the company professionally and courteously at all times when interacting with clients, vendors, traffic officials, and the general public.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class G/Commercial equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable professional driving experience, preferably in a logistics or commercial delivery setting.
- Proven track record of safe driving practices and unwavering adherence to traffic laws and regulations.
- Excellent knowledge of Lagos road networks, major routes, and surrounding areas.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 25kg) as required for loading and unloading.
- High level of responsibility, punctuality, and reliability.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
Preferred Qualifications
- SSCE/GCE or equivalent education is desirable.
- Previous experience operating different types of commercial vehicles (e.g., panel vans, light trucks).
- Familiarity with GPS devices, mapping applications, and route optimization software.
- A certificate in defensive driving or basic first aid is an added advantage.
