Job Description

SCC (Nigeria) Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Draftsman to join our dynamic project team in Gombe. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for translating architectural, civil, and structural designs into precise and detailed technical drawings using state-of-the-art computer-aided design (CAD) software. Your work will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and feasibility of our construction projects, from initial concept to final execution on site. You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers, architects, and project managers, providing essential visual documentation that guides our construction teams and ensures adherence to specifications. This position requires an individual with exceptional attention to detail, a strong understanding of drafting principles, and proven proficiency in relevant software. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed architectural, civil, and structural drawings, plans, and blueprints from sketches, specifications, and calculations provided by engineers and architects.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and other relevant CAD software to create accurate 2D and 3D models and renderings as required for project visualization and implementation.
  • Review and verify designs and drawings for accuracy, completeness, and strict adherence to relevant industry standards, building codes, and project specifications.
  • Collaborate effectively with project engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to fully understand design requirements and integrate necessary modifications into drawings.
  • Revise drawings based on instructions, red-line markups, or design changes, ensuring all documentation is current, precise, and reflects the latest project status.
  • Maintain an organized and comprehensive system for filing and archiving all drawing documents, both digital and hard copy, for easy retrieval and reference.
  • Assist in the preparation of material quantity take-offs and bills of quantities directly from approved drawings.
  • Ensure all drawings are clear, legible, and easily understandable by construction teams and other stakeholders on-site.
  • Participate in site visits as needed to gather information, conduct measurements, or clarify drawing details with the project team.
  • Adhere strictly to company drafting standards, quality control procedures, and safety regulations at all times.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD software (versions 2018 or newer).
  • Strong understanding of drafting principles, architectural, civil, and structural drawing conventions.
  • Excellent technical drawing and spatial reasoning skills.
  • High level of accuracy, precision, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret blueprints, schematics, and complex construction documents.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and a proactive, results-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Technology, or a closely related technical field.
  • Proficiency in additional CAD software such as Revit, MicroStation, or SketchUp for advanced design tasks.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience working on large-scale civil engineering or building construction projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and construction practices in Nigeria.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling and rendering techniques to enhance design presentations.
