Job Description

Are you a meticulous and skilled CAD Drafter with a passion for precision and a keen eye for detail? KOA Corporation is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Drafter (CAD) to join our dynamic team in Del Rosa, San Bernardino. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to significant infrastructure and civil engineering projects that directly impact our local communities. As a Drafter (CAD) at KOA, you will play a crucial role in transforming conceptual designs and engineering specifications into accurate, detailed technical drawings and plans. You will work closely with our licensed engineers, project managers, and other technical staff to produce high-quality civil engineering drawings for a variety of projects, including roadway improvements, site development, utility infrastructure, and traffic signalization. Your daily tasks will involve utilizing advanced CAD software, primarily AutoCAD Civil 3D, to create and modify plans, profiles, sections, and details that adhere strictly to industry standards, client requirements, and local regulations. This position requires not only technical proficiency but also a strong ability to interpret engineering markups, understand design intent, and communicate effectively within a fast-paced project environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and maps using CAD software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
  • Translate rough sketches, specifications, and calculations from engineers into complete and accurate working drawings.
  • Collaborate closely with civil engineers, project managers, and other technical staff to ensure design intent and project requirements are met.
  • Review and revise drawings based on feedback, field conditions, and design changes to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with relevant industry standards, codes, client specifications, and local regulations.
  • Maintain organized project files, drawing archives, and documentation in accordance with company standards.
  • Perform basic calculations for dimensions, materials, and quantities as needed for drafting tasks.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals, specifications, and estimates.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide input regarding drawing production and technical challenges.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (AutoCAD Civil 3D experience highly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of drafting principles, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Drafting, CAD Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with MicroStation or other relevant CAD/BIM software.
  • Familiarity with civil engineering concepts, including land development, grading, utilities, and roadway design.
  • Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).
  • Certification in AutoCAD or other professional drafting software.
