Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in residential buildings.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions and faults using appropriate testing devices and methods.
- Ensure all electrical installations and repairs strictly comply with SANS 10142-1 regulations and other relevant national safety standards.
- Conduct thorough routine inspections of existing electrical systems to identify and rectify potential hazards or inefficiencies.
- Accurately install and connect various electrical appliances, lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, and distribution boards.
- Interpret and work effectively from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and other technical specifications.
- Provide accurate estimates for electrical work, manage project timelines efficiently, and source necessary materials.
- Liaise directly and professionally with clients to understand their specific needs, explain technical details clearly, and ensure complete satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all work performed, materials used, and time spent on each project.
- Adhere strictly to all company and industry safety protocols and procedures on every job site.
- Actively participate in professional development and training programs to stay updated with industry advancements and best practices.
Required Skills
- Valid Wireman's License (Single Phase, up to 1000V)
- Relevant NQF Level 4 qualification (e.g., N3/N4/N5 Electrical Engineering or equivalent trade test certificate)
- Minimum 3 years (36 months) proven experience as a Domestic Electrician
- In-depth knowledge and practical application of SANS 10142-1 (The wiring of premises) regulations
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for residential electrical systems
- Proficiency in interpreting electrical blueprints and technical drawings
- Valid Code B (08) driver's license with a clean driving record
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks
- Strong commitment to safety protocols, quality workmanship, and ethical practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with solar PV installations and maintenance
- Additional certifications in specialized electrical fields (e.g., advanced fault finding, smart home automation)
- Basic computer literacy for job logging, reporting, and accessing technical documentation
- First Aid certification
- Experience working in remote or rural environments with diverse challenges
