Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a distribution van to deliver goods to various retail outlets, businesses, and customer locations within Bungoma County and surrounding areas.
- Load and unload merchandise, ensuring proper handling, security, and accurate count of items as per delivery manifests.
- Verify product quantities and ensure correct items are delivered per invoice or delivery manifest, promptly reporting any discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, complete necessary paperwork, and collect signatures upon delivery for proof of receipt.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking fuel, oil, water, tires, and brakes, reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance needs promptly.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations at all times to ensure personal and public safety.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, interacting courteously and professionally with clients and the public.
- Manage delivery routes efficiently to meet scheduled delivery times, adapting to unforeseen traffic or road conditions.
- Assist with warehouse duties, including sorting and organizing inventory, as required during non-driving periods or between delivery runs.
- Ensure the cleanliness and presentable condition of the delivery vehicle at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Kenyan Driving License Class B, C1, or C (as applicable for light/medium commercial vehicles).
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) verifiable experience as a commercial delivery driver.
- Clean driving record with no major accidents or traffic violations in the last 3 years.
- Excellent knowledge of Bungoma County roads and surrounding areas, including navigation of urban and rural routes.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize deliveries.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 25 kg) frequently and safely.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with colleagues and customers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity, reliability, and attention to detail.
