Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of rum production, from raw material sourcing and fermentation to distillation, aging, and blending.
- Ensure consistent product quality, adhering to strict sensory profiles and chemical specifications.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of distillers, blenders, and production staff.
- Implement and enforce all safety, environmental, and quality assurance protocols and regulatory compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in production processes and technology.
- Manage inventory of raw materials, spirits, and finished products efficiently.
- Collaborate with R&D for new product development and process innovation.
- Monitor market trends and consumer preferences to inform production strategies.
- Represent the company and its brands at industry events, tastings, and media engagements.
- Develop and manage the distillery budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimization.
- Maintain and develop deep knowledge of sustainable distillery practices and implement where feasible.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in spirits distillation, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a reputable distillery.
- Profound knowledge of fermentation, distillation, aging processes, and blending techniques, specifically for rum.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex production operations and large teams.
- Strong understanding of quality control, safety regulations, and environmental compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to innovate while respecting traditional methods.
- Strategic planning and budget management expertise.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or a related field.
