Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the daily dispatch of a fleet of professional truck drivers, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries.
- Optimize routes and schedules to maximize efficiency, minimize costs, and adhere to regulatory compliance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, providing real-time support, guidance, and assistance with any issues encountered on the road.
- Monitor driver hours of service (HOS) to ensure compliance with federal regulations and company policies.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) to track shipments, update load statuses, and manage driver assignments.
- Communicate effectively with customers, sales, and operations teams regarding shipment status, delays, and potential issues.
- Proactively identify and resolve operational challenges such as breakdowns, accidents, weather delays, and re-routing needs.
- Maintain accurate records of all dispatch activities, driver communications, and load information.
- Foster a positive and supportive relationship with drivers, addressing concerns and contributing to driver retention.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with industry best practices and company procedures.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially under pressure.
