Job Description
GumGum is seeking a talented and passionate DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic Infrastructure Engineering team in Santa Monica. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in building, maintaining, and scaling the core systems that power GumGum’s cutting-edge advertising technology platform. You will work on a high-performance, distributed environment, ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and security of our services through automation, proactive monitoring, and robust incident response. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Automate deployment, scaling, and management of applications across various environments (development, staging, production) using CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
- Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters and container orchestration systems.
- Develop and maintain robust monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to ensure system health and performance (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
- Implement and enforce security best practices across our infrastructure and application stack, ensuring compliance and data integrity.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to optimize application performance, reliability, and troubleshoot production issues.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support our production systems and respond swiftly to incidents, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Continuously evaluate and introduce new technologies and best practices to improve our infrastructure and operational efficiency.
- Document infrastructure, procedures, and best practices comprehensively to foster knowledge sharing and maintain system integrity.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering role.
- Proficiency with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) – AWS strongly preferred.
- Strong experience with containerization technologies, especially Docker and Kubernetes.
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Go) for automation and system management.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
- Strong understanding of Linux operating systems and networking concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems and resolve critical issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with serverless technologies (AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions).
- Familiarity with database administration (SQL and NoSQL, e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks.
- Previous experience in the AdTech industry or high-volume data processing environments.
