Key Responsibilities
- Operate a delivery van safely and efficiently to transport goods to various locations within Kisumu and its environs.
- Strictly adhere to planned delivery routes and schedules to ensure timely arrivals.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues or defects promptly.
- Safely load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling and securing of items to prevent damage during transit.
- Verify accurate counts of goods delivered and obtain necessary signatures or acknowledgments from recipients.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, records, and manifest documentation.
- Interact professionally and courteously with customers, representing the company with a positive image.
- Ensure the cleanliness and presentable condition of the delivery van at all times.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Assist with warehouse tasks such as sorting or organizing goods when not on delivery routes.
Required Skills
- Valid Class BCE driving license (or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar professional driving role.
- Thorough knowledge of Kisumu County road networks and routes.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 25kg) and perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading.
- High degree of reliability, punctuality, and responsibility.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate in Defensive Driving.
- Experience with GPS navigation systems and route optimization software.
