In this team-oriented role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery and collection of various parcels, documents, and packages across specified routes within Kiambu and its environs. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate company vehicles for the delivery and collection of parcels, documents, and packages.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to plan optimal delivery routes, manage workloads, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring they are roadworthy and reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
- Load and unload packages carefully, ensuring their integrity and security during transit.
- Verify the accuracy of delivery manifests against packages, obtaining necessary signatures and proof of delivery.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, addressing inquiries professionally and courteously.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, vehicle mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies.
- Communicate proactively with the dispatch team, team leads, and customers regarding delivery status or potential delays.
- Assist in the sorting and preparation of parcels for dispatch when required.
Required Skills
- Valid Kenyan Driving License (minimum Class BCE for light commercial vehicles)
- Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3 years
- Minimum of 1 year of commercial driving or courier experience
- Excellent knowledge of Kiambu roads and surrounding areas
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration and customer interaction
- Ability to read maps, use GPS devices, and plan efficient routes
- Physical stamina to lift and carry packages of varying weights (up to 25kg) and work in various weather conditions
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
- Attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and package handling
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a team-based delivery or logistics role
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting
- Certificate in defensive driving or a related safety course
- Familiarity with handheld scanning devices and delivery management software
