This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of goods from our warehouse to our valued customers in and around Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal. As a Delivery Assistant, you’ll be the reliable link in our supply chain, directly contributing to our reputation for promptness and excellence. You will work closely with our warehouse and logistics teams, playing a hands-on role in the entire distribution process, from careful order preparation to secure loading and timely delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the efficient and safe loading and unloading of delivery vehicles.
- Verify the accuracy of outgoing and incoming shipments against invoices, manifests, and order sheets.
- Organize and store inventory in the warehouse according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Perform timely and accurate deliveries to customers following designated routes and schedules.
- Safely operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks.
- Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and safety standards within the warehouse and delivery vehicles.
- Promptly report any discrepancies, damages, operational issues, or safety concerns.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety regulations, policies, and traffic laws.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, handling inquiries and feedback professionally.
- Assist with periodic inventory counts, stock rotation, and order picking as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a warehouse or delivery assistant role (minimum 2 years).
- Valid South African Driver's License (Code B or C1 an advantage).
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy packages (up to 25kg) consistently.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with an ability to prioritize tasks.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in managing inventory and shipments.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a fast-paced team.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for record-keeping and documentation.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with colleagues and customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Matric Certificate).
- Experience with handheld scanning devices or basic warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Familiarity with Umlazi and surrounding KwaZulu-Natal geographical areas and routes.
- Forklift operating certificate (advantageous but not essential for this role).
- Previous customer service experience in a delivery or retail environment.
