Amazing Grace Educare Centre is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual for a unique ‘Daycare Assistant/Owner’ role. As a Daycare Assistant, you will be instrumental in creating a positive and enriching environment for children aged 0-5, guiding their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through creative activities, structured learning, and compassionate care. Beyond the assistant duties, this role also encompasses aspects of ownership, meaning you will be involved in decision-making, staff coordination, curriculum enhancement, parent engagement strategies, and potentially contributing to business development initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and implement age-appropriate educational activities, games, and creative projects that stimulate children's development.
- Provide direct supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of all children under care at all times.
- Assist with daily routines including feeding, napping, changing diapers/potty training, and maintaining hygiene.
- Observe and document children's progress, behaviors, and developmental milestones, communicating effectively with parents/guardians.
- Foster a warm, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment where children feel secure and encouraged to explore.
- Collaborate with the existing team to ensure a cohesive and high-quality educational program.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning space, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Engage with parents/guardians regularly, providing updates, addressing concerns, and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and operational oversight of the daycare, including potential budgeting, marketing, and staff management tasks.
- Identify opportunities for program improvement and implement new initiatives to enhance the children's learning experience.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in early childhood education or a daycare setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with young children.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate practices.
- Certified in First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain immediately).
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a safe and nurturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- NQF Level 4/5 Certificate in Early Childhood Development (ECD) or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a childcare setting.
- Basic understanding of business operations, including budgeting or marketing.
- Fluency in local languages in addition to English (e.g., isiZulu, Sesotho).
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation.
- Valid driver's license and own reliable transport.
