We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Customs Clearance Officer to join our vibrant team in Ajman. This critical role involves managing and executing all customs clearance procedures for import and export shipments, ensuring strict adherence to UAE customs laws, regulations, and company policies. The successful candidate will be instrumental in facilitating the smooth and efficient flow of goods across borders, minimizing delays, and proactively resolving any customs-related challenges. You will be responsible for preparing and submitting accurate documentation, liaising with customs authorities, and coordinating with clients and internal departments. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit all necessary customs documentation for import and export shipments, including declarations, invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Liaise directly with Ajman Customs and other relevant government agencies to facilitate the swift clearance of goods and resolve any issues or queries that may arise.
- Calculate and verify duties, taxes, and other applicable charges, ensuring correct payment and avoiding discrepancies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations, tariffs, trade agreements, and changes in UAE customs laws to ensure continuous compliance.
- Coordinate effectively with clients, shipping lines, airlines, and internal operations teams to ensure timely release and delivery of shipments.
- Investigate and resolve customs-related discrepancies, delays, or penalties in a proactive and efficient manner.
- Maintain comprehensive and organized records of all customs clearance activities and documentation for audit purposes.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to clients and internal staff on customs procedures, requirements, and best practices.
- Assist in the preparation of reports related to customs activities and performance.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Customs Clearance Officer or in a similar role within the UAE.
- In-depth knowledge of UAE customs laws, regulations, tariffs, and documentation procedures.
- Proficiency in customs clearance software and systems (e.g., Mirsal 2 or similar platforms).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effective liaison with authorities and clients.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Customs Brokerage License or relevant industry certifications.
- Fluency in Arabic and English (both written and spoken) is highly advantageous.
- Experience with various types of goods (e.g., general cargo, hazardous materials, perishable goods).
