Key Responsibilities
- Identify, research, and evaluate potential content IPs (webtoons, web novels, video, music, etc.) for acquisition based on market trends, audience data, and strategic objectives.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with content creators, IP holders, production companies, and talent agencies.
- Lead complex negotiations for content licensing, distribution, and co-production deals, ensuring favorable terms for Kakao Entertainment.
- Develop and present compelling business cases for content acquisition, including financial projections and strategic rationale.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, marketing, product, and operations teams to ensure smooth content integration and launch.
- Monitor competitive landscape and market shifts to inform acquisition strategies and identify new opportunities.
- Track performance of acquired content and provide data-driven insights for optimization and future strategy.
- Manage content pipeline and ensure timely delivery of acquired assets.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (5+ years) in content acquisition, business development, or strategic partnerships within the entertainment, media, or tech industry.
- Strong negotiation and deal-making skills with a track record of successful content licensing agreements.
- Excellent analytical abilities to evaluate content value, market potential, and financial impact.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of the digital content ecosystem, including webtoons, web novels, streaming video, and music.
- Proficiency in English and Korean (written and spoken) for business communication.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Media Studies, Communications, or a related field; MBA or Master's degree preferred.
- Experience with global content markets and international deal-making.
- Legal background or strong understanding of intellectual property rights and contract law.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools for content performance evaluation.
- Existing network of contacts within the Korean and/or global content creator community.
