Key Responsibilities
- Perform general construction duties including site preparation, trenching, digging, and material handling.
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Assist skilled tradespersons (carpenters, bricklayers, electricians, plumbers) as required.
- Load and unload construction materials, ensuring proper storage and organization on-site.
- Mix, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials.
- Erect and dismantle temporary structures, scaffolding, and barricades.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering strictly to all health and safety regulations and protocols.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and foremen, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Inspect work areas, equipment, and tools to identify and resolve potential hazards.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a construction worker or in a similar role.
- Demonstrated ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and working in various weather conditions.
- Proficiency in using common construction hand and power tools.
- Basic understanding of construction principles and safety practices.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills (basic English required for safety and team coordination).
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant construction-related certification or trade qualification (e.g., NQF Level 2 or 3).
- Valid driver's license (Code B or C1).
- First Aid and/or Basic Fire Fighting certification.
