Key Responsibilities
- Directly supervise all on-site construction activities, ensuring strict adherence to blueprints, specifications, and quality standards.
- Implement and enforce comprehensive health, safety, and environmental protocols to maintain a zero-incident work environment.
- Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel to optimize workflow and resource utilization.
- Monitor project progress against timelines and budgets, identifying potential delays or cost overruns and implementing corrective actions.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and project requirements.
- Provide clear and effective communication to the project manager regarding site status, issues, and progress.
- Manage material inventory, equipment usage, and waste disposal on site.
- Train, mentor, and motivate site workers, fostering a productive and collaborative team atmosphere.
- Resolve on-site conflicts or challenges promptly and effectively to minimize disruptions.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and maintain accurate site records.
Required Skills
- Proven leadership and team management abilities in a construction setting.
- Excellent knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, local standards).
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Proficiency in project scheduling and resource allocation.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Solid understanding of construction equipment and tools.
- Computer literacy (MS Office, basic project management software).
- Commitment to quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., COREN, PMI-CP) is a plus.
- Experience with lean construction principles or similar efficiency methodologies.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Familiarity with local construction codes and regulations specific to Lagos State, Nigeria.
