Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction Supervisor to oversee daily operations and ensure project success on-site in Ajao Estate, Oshodi-Isolo. This critical role involves managing all aspects of construction activities, from initial groundwork to final finishes, while adhering to the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader, adept at coordinating teams, interpreting blueprints, managing resources, and maintaining strict project timelines and budgets. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- Interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications to guide site operations and ensure accuracy.
- Manage and motivate construction teams, including tradespeople, laborers, and subcontractors.
- Conduct daily safety briefings and enforce strict adherence to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Monitor progress, maintain daily logs, and prepare regular reports on project status, resource allocation, and potential issues.
- Oversee quality control, ensuring all work meets specified standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage on-site materials, equipment, and resources efficiently, minimizing waste and ensuring timely availability.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to resolve technical issues and implement design changes.
- Conduct site inspections and troubleshoot problems as they arise, implementing effective and timely solutions.
- Maintain a clean and organized construction site.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and local authorities.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Construction Supervisor or similar role.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, local Nigerian safety standards).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
- Familiarity with construction software and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD viewing).
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Project Management Professional – PMP, Construction Safety certifications).
- Experience with residential and commercial construction projects.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations specific to Lagos State, Nigeria.
