Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily construction activities on building sites, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and schedules.
- Oversee the work of subcontractors, craft workers, and other personnel, providing guidance and resolving on-site issues.
- Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Monitor project progress, report on status, and identify potential delays or cost overruns to the Project Manager.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications, ensuring all work is carried out accurately and to required standards.
- Manage and optimize the use of construction materials, equipment, and labor resources.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify quality of workmanship and ensure proper execution of tasks.
- Lead and motivate the construction team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Implement corrective actions and proactive measures to prevent potential problems.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily logs, progress reports, and material usage.
- Liaise effectively with architects, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders as required.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior staff and less experienced workers.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Construction Supervisor, Site Supervisor, or similar role in building construction.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, local regulations).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities on-site.
- Proficiency in basic construction software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- A valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Building Technology, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., COREN, CORBON, PMP).
- Experience with quality control and assurance processes in construction.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience working on large-scale residential or commercial building projects.
