Turner Construction Company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction Site Engineer to join our dynamic team in Chicago, IL. Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical engineering support to project managers and superintendents on-site.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, plans, and quality standards.
- Perform site surveys, set out, and ensure accurate alignment and levels throughout the project.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project documents.
- Identify and resolve technical problems and discrepancies encountered during construction.
- Prepare and maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, and site documentation.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project flow.
- Assist in the preparation of RFI’s (Requests for Information) and submittals.
- Implement and enforce Turner's stringent safety protocols and quality control procedures.
- Conduct material inspections and verify quantities on site.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to scheduling and progress discussions.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance as needed.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in construction site engineering roles.
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and technical specifications.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and decision-making under pressure.
- Solid knowledge of local building codes and quality assurance processes.
- Competency in surveying and site layout techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or actively pursuing licensure.
- Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
- OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification.
- LEED Green Associate or AP accreditation.
- Experience working on large-scale commercial or institutional projects.
