Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Construction Manager to join our dynamic team in eMalahleni, Mpumalanga. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and completion of construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This pivotal role demands strong leadership, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of construction methodologies and safety regulations. You will be the driving force on-site, managing all operational aspects, from resource allocation and subcontractor coordination to client liaison and progress reporting. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with project specifications, budgets, and schedules.
- Develop and implement detailed project plans, including resource allocation, procurement strategies, and work breakdown structures.
- Oversee and manage on-site construction activities, including supervision of foremen, skilled trades, and subcontractors.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality of work, and ensure compliance with design specifications and standards.
- Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective delivery without compromising quality.
- Prepare and present regular project progress reports to senior management and clients.
- Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve project-related issues, risks, and challenges in a timely and efficient manner.
- Manage and approve project documentation, including method statements, risk assessments, and quality control plans.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and professional development among site personnel.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Construction Manager in civil engineering or building projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and safety procedures.
- Excellent project management, planning, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, resources, and timelines effectively.
- Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities.
- Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional registration with relevant bodies (e.g., SACPCMP).
- PMP or equivalent project management certification.
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects.
- In-depth knowledge of FIDIC, NEC, or JBCC forms of contract.
