Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, while respecting client dignity.
- Assist clients with safe mobility, transfers, and proper positioning to prevent injuries and ensure comfort.
- Prepare nutritious and appetizing meals tailored to individual dietary needs and preferences, and assist with feeding if required.
- Administer timely medication reminders and provide assistance with self-administration as per care plan guidelines.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, laundry, and ensure a clean, organized, and safe living environment.
- Offer companionship, engage in meaningful conversation, and participate in recreational activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
- Assist with essential errands, accompany clients to medical appointments, and provide transportation if necessary and approved.
- Monitor and meticulously report any observed changes in a client's health status, behavior, or living conditions to the care coordinator promptly.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and confidential care records and documentation for each client interaction.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated empathy, profound patience, and a naturally compassionate nature.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meticulously follow individualized care plans and instructions diligently.
- Exceptional reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of personal responsibility.
- Ability to safely perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and assisting with client mobility.
- Basic understanding and adherence to health, hygiene, and safety protocols.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal certification as a Home Health Aide (HHA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or an equivalent recognized caregiving training.
- Previous experience specifically working with individuals living with dementia, Alzheimer's, or other specific health conditions.
- Possession of a valid South African driver's license and access to reliable personal transportation.
- Ability to fluently speak multiple languages prevalent in the Rustenburg community (e.g., Setswana, Afrikaans).
- Experience with specialized caregiving equipment (e.g., hoists, hospital beds, oxygen concentrators).
