Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized college counseling to high school students, including guidance on college selection, academic planning, and extracurricular activities.
- Assist students in developing compelling college essays, personal statements, and supplemental application materials.
- Educate students and parents on the intricacies of the college application process, including deadlines, standardized testing, and financial aid.
- Conduct mock interviews and provide feedback to prepare students for college interviews.
- Stay current with evolving trends in college admissions, including changes in testing policies, application platforms, and university requirements.
- Organize and lead workshops or information sessions for groups of students and parents on various admissions topics.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and interactions.
- Collaborate with school counselors, teachers, and other educational professionals to support student success.
Required Skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to build rapport and trust with students and parents.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple student caseloads simultaneously.
- In-depth knowledge of the U.S. college admissions landscape, including public and private institutions, application platforms (Common App, Coalition App, UC App), and financial aid processes (FAFSA, CSS Profile).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field.
- Experience with international student admissions and visa processes.
- Familiarity with various CRM or student management software platforms.
- Bilingual proficiency, especially in Spanish or Mandarin, to support a diverse student body.
