Job Description
As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at Rakuten, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure that underpins our diverse range of services. Your contributions will directly enable the seamless operation of critical platforms across e-commerce, fintech, digital content, and communications. You will be responsible for building and optimizing our cloud platforms, ensuring high availability, peak performance, and cost-effectiveness through continuous innovation and best practices. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud technologies, particularly with public cloud providers like AWS, Azure, or GCP, and a strong passion for automation and infrastructure-as-code principles. You will leverage your expertise to develop robust, automated solutions for provisioning, configuration, and orchestration of cloud resources. You will collaborate closely with development teams, Site Reliability Engineers (SREs), and security engineers to integrate infrastructure solutions seamlessly into our continuous delivery pipelines, fostering a culture of DevOps. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage highly available, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure on public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible to automate provisioning and configuration.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud infrastructure performance, cost, and reliability.
- Collaborate with development teams to define infrastructure requirements and integrate cloud services into application architectures.
- Implement and enforce security best practices, compliance policies, and disaster recovery strategies for cloud environments.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response to ensure service continuity and minimal downtime.
- Evaluate and recommend new cloud technologies and tools to improve efficiency, innovation, and operational processes.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
- Document infrastructure designs, configurations, and operational procedures thoroughly and clearly.
Required Skills
- Proficiency with at least one major public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (VPC, VPN, DNS, Load Balancing) in a cloud environment.
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Go).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Business-level English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect).
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
- Experience with database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) in a cloud context.
- Japanese language proficiency (business level).
