Key Responsibilities

  • Assist clinical staff with administrative tasks, including maintaining patient records, scheduling appointments, and managing correspondence.
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are stocked with necessary supplies and equipment before and after patient use.
  • Monitor inventory levels of medical supplies and alert senior staff when reordering is necessary.
  • Transport patients safely within the facility as needed, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment, adhering strictly to infection control protocols.
  • Provide compassionate and respectful support to patients and their families, addressing non-clinical queries or directing them to appropriate staff.
  • Assist with basic patient care activities under direct supervision, such as assisting with mobility or personal hygiene, as required.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
  • Facilitate communication between patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent (NQF Level 4)
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office)
  • Reliability and strong work ethic
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and technologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • A valid First Aid certificate (advantageous, but not required)
  • Familiarity with medical terminology (beneficial, but training will be provided)
  • Previous experience in a customer service role or an environment requiring direct public interaction
