Job Description

Are you passionate about climate action and possess strong analytical skills? Engie is seeking a talented and motivated Climate Change Analyst to join our dynamic sustainability team in France. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in supporting Engie’s ambitious decarbonization strategy, analyzing climate-related risks and opportunities, and contributing to the development of robust climate resilience plans. You will work on cutting-edge projects, interpreting complex climate data, conducting in-depth research on climate policies, and assessing the impact of global warming on our operations and investments. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to Engie’s environmental commitments, leveraging your expertise to inform strategic decisions and drive meaningful change within a leading energy company. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, operations, finance, and public affairs, to integrate climate considerations across all business units. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of climate change data, trends, and projections relevant to Engie's global operations and strategic goals.
  • Assess the physical and transition risks associated with climate change, evaluating their potential impact on assets, supply chains, and business models.
  • Monitor and analyze national, European, and international climate policies, regulations, and market mechanisms (e.g., carbon pricing, emissions trading schemes).
  • Develop and maintain climate-related metrics, reporting frameworks (e.g., TCFD, CSRD), and contribute to corporate sustainability reports.
  • Support the development and implementation of Engie's decarbonization pathways, including setting targets, monitoring progress, and identifying mitigation opportunities.
  • Perform scenario analysis and modeling to understand potential future climate impacts and inform long-term strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., R&D, finance, legal) to integrate climate considerations into investment decisions, risk management, and product development.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports, presentations, and briefings for internal and external stakeholders on climate change-related topics.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in climate change analysis, environmental economics, or sustainability consulting.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python, R).
  • Solid understanding of climate science, climate models, and greenhouse gas accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with international climate frameworks and reporting standards (e.g., IPCC, Paris Agreement, TCFD, GHG Protocol).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and present findings clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Climate Science, Environmental Economics, Sustainability, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience with GIS software or climate modeling tools.
  • Prior experience within the energy sector or a large industrial organization.
  • Knowledge of circular economy principles and biodiversity impact assessments.
  • Certifications in sustainability or climate risk management.
