The American International School of Abuja (AISA) is seeking a dedicated Cleaner to join our facilities team for the morning shift. This vital role involves maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of our school buildings, ensuring a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for our students, faculty, and visitors. As a Morning Shift Cleaner, you will be responsible for preparing the school for daily activities, focusing on high-traffic areas, classrooms, offices, and restrooms before the main school day begins. Your contribution will directly impact the well-being and productivity of our entire school community. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing floors in classrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, ensuring they are stocked with necessary supplies (toilet paper, soap, paper towels) at all times.
- Dust and wipe down surfaces, including desks, tables, shelves, windowsills, and other furniture.
- Empty waste bins and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, railings, and water fountains.
- Maintain cleanliness of cafeteria, gym, and other communal facilities as required.
- Report any maintenance needs, safety hazards, or damaged items to the Facilities Manager promptly.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and school policies.
- Assist with setting up and taking down equipment for school events as needed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in cleaning or custodial roles.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks, lift moderate weights, and stand for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and their safe usage.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately.
