Namaqua Guest Farm is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Cleaner/Housekeeper to join our friendly team in Nuwerus, Northern Cape. Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough daily cleaning of guest rooms, including making beds, changing linens, vacuuming, dusting, polishing furniture, and sanitizing bathrooms.
- Clean and maintain common areas such as reception, lounges, dining areas, and hallways to impeccable standards.
- Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest quality, following established checklists and procedures.
- Replenish guest room amenities and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels in all guest-facing areas.
- Report any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards immediately to management.
- Manage cleaning supply inventory, placing orders and ensuring proper storage and efficient use of products.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations and company policies, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with laundry duties, including washing, drying, folding, and organizing linens and towels.
- Handle guest requests and inquiries politely and professionally, escalating when necessary to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment, assisting colleagues when needed.
- Participate in occasional remote meetings for scheduling, administrative coordination, and team updates.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in cleaning or housekeeping, preferably in a hospitality setting.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to complete tasks efficiently.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to perform duties requiring bending, lifting (up to 15kg), and prolonged standing.
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy with a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and their safe and effective use.
- Good communication skills to interact with guests and team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a guesthouse, hotel, or similar accommodation environment.
- Knowledge of eco-friendly cleaning practices and products.
- Valid driver's license (advantageous for errands or transport, if needed).
- Ability to communicate in Afrikaans (a plus, given the regional context).
