Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed civil engineering design calculations and prepare technical drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- Undertake feasibility studies, site investigations, and risk assessments for proposed projects.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, specifications, and tender documentation.
- Manage project resources, budgets, and schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Ensure all designs and project activities comply with relevant UK national and local regulations, standards, and health and safety legislation.
- Supervise construction activities on-site, ensuring quality control and adherence to design specifications.
- Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Provide expert technical advice and resolve engineering challenges that arise during project execution.
- Contribute to the development of sustainable engineering solutions and innovative practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and support continuous professional development within the team.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven post-graduate experience in civil engineering projects.
- Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software, particularly AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Thorough understanding of UK civil engineering standards, regulations, and design codes (e.g., Eurocodes, DMRB).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated project management capabilities, including planning, scheduling, and budget control.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a relevant professional institution (e.g., ICE) or actively working towards it.
- Experience with additional specialist software such as MicroDrainage, PDS, Revit, or BIM tools.
- Knowledge of sustainable design principles and environmental impact assessments.
- Experience with various contract types, including NEC and JCT.
- Previous experience working on projects within the North East England region.
