Career.supersecrets is actively recruiting on behalf of a prominent client in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, for a dedicated Civil Engineer to join their dynamic team. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site investigations and analyze data (maps, reports, tests, etc.) to inform project designs.
  • Perform detailed calculations to design civil engineering projects, including foundations, structures, roads, bridges, and drainage systems.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, feasibility studies, tender documents, and specifications.
  • Utilize CAD software and other relevant design tools to produce engineering drawings and plans.
  • Oversee and manage project sites, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project progress, budget, and schedule, identifying potential issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with local and national building codes, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
  • Participate in client meetings, stakeholder consultations, and public presentations to gather feedback and present solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental processes and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in civil engineering project design and delivery
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar CAD software
  • Strong understanding of UK building codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., Eurocodes, CDM Regulations)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and resources effectively
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Eligibility for professional registration (e.g., ICE EngTech, IEng, CEng) or working towards it

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Project Management
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a relevant professional body (e.g., Institution of Civil Engineers – ICE)
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling or geotechnical analysis software
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification
  • Previous experience on large-scale infrastructure projects in the UK
  • Full valid UK driving licence (or equivalent transferable licence)
