Key Responsibilities
- Undertake the design and analysis of various civil engineering structures and infrastructure systems.
- Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, reports, and calculations in accordance with relevant UK standards and codes.
- Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and risk assessments for new and existing projects.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (architects, structural engineers, environmental specialists) to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Provide technical guidance and support during the construction phase, responding to site queries and conducting site visits.
- Contribute to the development of sustainable engineering solutions and promote best practices in environmental management.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to their professional development.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory changes in civil engineering.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience in civil engineering design.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- Strong understanding of UK design standards, regulations, and codes of practice (e.g., Eurocodes, DMRB).
- Demonstrable experience in infrastructure design (roads, drainage, earthworks).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related specialist area.
- Working towards Chartership with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or equivalent.
- Experience with BIM software (e.g., Revit, Navisworks).
- Project management experience or certification (e.g., PRINCE2).
- Experience in sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) design.
- Previous experience working on projects within the Cambridgeshire region.
