Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage civil engineering projects from initial feasibility studies through to detailed design, construction supervision, and handover.
- Perform complex calculations and analyses to ensure the structural integrity and safety of proposed designs.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, specifications, and tender documents in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Collaborate with architects, urban planners, contractors, and other stakeholders to integrate civil engineering designs into larger development schemes.
- Ensure all designs and construction activities comply with relevant UK building codes, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Conduct site investigations, surveys, and inspections to assess conditions, identify potential risks, and monitor construction progress.
- Utilize advanced engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, SAP2000, ETABS) for design, modelling, and analysis.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources efficiently to deliver projects on time and within cost constraints.
- Participate in client meetings, present design proposals, and address technical queries effectively.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in civil engineering roles, particularly within an urban development context.
- Demonstrable experience with structural analysis, foundation design, and urban drainage systems.
- Proficiency in industry-standard CAD and civil engineering design software.
- Strong understanding of UK building regulations, British Standards, and Eurocodes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognized professional body (e.g., ICE) or actively working towards it.
- Experience with sustainable design principles and green infrastructure solutions.
