Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed design and analysis for civil engineering projects, including highways, drainage systems, foundations, and structural elements, using industry-standard software.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and tender documents, ensuring compliance with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and local regulations.
- Manage project elements from conception through to completion, including scope definition, resource allocation, and budget control.
- Perform site visits and inspections to monitor progress, assess quality, and resolve on-site engineering challenges.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, structural engineers, urban planners, contractors, and clients to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with civil engineering projects, proposing robust and cost-effective solutions.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health, safety, and environmental legislation and best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the professional development of the team.
- Actively participate in client meetings and presentations, representing the project team with professionalism and technical acumen.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience in civil engineering design and project delivery.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and relevant structural analysis software (e.g., Staad.Pro, Etabs).
- Strong understanding of UK building codes, design standards, and relevant legislation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear technical reports and engaging with stakeholders.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to design challenges.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related specialist discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working towards it with a recognized professional institution (e.g., ICE).
- Experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) principles and software.
- Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
