Key Responsibilities
- Undertake detailed civil engineering design for a variety of projects, including roads, drainage, earthworks, and structural foundations.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design drawings using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Conduct site investigations and surveys to assess existing conditions and inform design decisions.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure project compliance and successful delivery.
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents and contract administration.
- Perform calculations and analysis to ensure designs meet relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and local authority requirements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
- Participate in project meetings, offering solutions and contributing to design reviews.
- Manage project timelines and budgets efficiently, ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience in civil engineering design within the UK or a similar regulatory environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroDrainage (or similar drainage design software).
- Strong understanding of UK design standards, Eurocodes, and relevant legislation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrable experience in designing infrastructure projects (roads, drainage, utilities).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant specialisation.
- Working towards or already achieved Chartership with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
- Experience with structural analysis software (e.g., Revit, Tekla Structures).
- Familiarity with environmental impact assessments and sustainable design principles.
- Project management experience on civil engineering schemes.
