Job Description
Raubex Group is seeking an experienced and dedicated Civil Engineer to join our team, focusing on critical infrastructure projects within the vibrant region of Piet Retief, Mpumalanga. This hybrid role offers the best of both worlds – the flexibility of remote work blended with essential on-site presence for project oversight, team collaboration, and client engagement. As a Civil Engineer, you will be instrumental in the planning, design, execution, and supervision of various civil engineering projects, ranging from road construction and rehabilitation to water reticulation systems, storm water management, and structural works. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage civil engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Conduct detailed site investigations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments.
- Prepare, review, and approve engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Oversee construction activities, including site supervision, quality control, and progress monitoring.
- Ensure all projects comply with relevant South African engineering standards (SANS), environmental regulations, and health and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, sub-contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Manage project budgets, resources, and schedules effectively, providing regular progress reports to senior management and clients.
- Identify and resolve technical challenges and site-specific issues proactively.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Engage with local communities and authorities, managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring project social license to operate.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, preferably in infrastructure development.
- Proficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation).
- Strong understanding of project management principles and software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
- In-depth knowledge of South African engineering standards (SANS), building codes, and regulations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly.
- Valid South African driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) as Pr.Eng or Pr.Tech.Eng.
- Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with road construction, water infrastructure, or structural concrete projects in rural or regional settings.
- Knowledge of FIDIC contracts and NEC forms of contract.
- Bilingualism (English and isiZulu or another official South African language prevalent in Mpumalanga).
