Job Description
ROKO Construction Ltd is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer specializing in Infrastructure to join our growing team in Kigali, Rwanda. This is a critical role that will contribute to the design, planning, implementation, and oversight of various infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, water systems, and urban development initiatives. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, complying with all relevant engineering codes, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines. You will be instrumental in translating project visions into tangible realities, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders. We are looking for an individual with a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proven track record in managing complex infrastructure projects from conception through to completion. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and execution of various civil infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, drainage systems, water supply and sewerage networks, and other related civil works.
- Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and risk assessments to inform project development.
- Prepare detailed engineering designs, specifications, cost estimates, and tender documents.
- Oversee construction activities, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, safety protocols, and project schedules.
- Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines effectively to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Collaborate with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth project progression and address any technical challenges.
- Review and approve contractor submittals, progress reports, and payment certificates.
- Implement quality control and quality assurance procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with local and international engineering standards, environmental regulations, and health and safety policies.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in civil infrastructure project design and supervision
- Proficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, SAP2000, WaterCAD, ArcGIS)
- Strong understanding of local and international engineering standards and construction practices
- Excellent project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage construction teams effectively
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in construction
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Project Management
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification in Rwanda or another recognized jurisdiction
- Experience with FIDIC contract conditions
- Demonstrated experience in public-private partnership (PPP) infrastructure projects
- Fluency in Kinyarwanda and/or French
