Job Description
We are seeking an exceptionally skilled and visionary Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead and evolve ING Group’s comprehensive information security program across our global operations. The CISO will be a strategic leader, reporting directly to the executive board, responsible for establishing and maintaining the enterprise vision, strategy, and program to ensure information assets and technologies are adequately protected. This critical role demands a deep understanding of the evolving threat landscape in the financial sector, advanced security technologies, and a proven track record of implementing scalable, effective security frameworks. You will be instrumental in safeguarding our data, infrastructure, and reputation, ensuring compliance with international regulations, and fostering a security-conscious culture throughout the organization. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive information security strategy aligned with business objectives and risk appetite.
- Oversee the design, deployment, and management of all security systems, tools, and processes.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing global cybersecurity team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Establish and enforce information security policies, standards, and guidelines across the enterprise.
- Manage the overall cybersecurity risk posture, including risk assessments, remediation, and reporting to the executive board.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, DNB, PSD2) and industry best practices.
- Oversee incident response planning, management, and post-incident analysis.
- Drive security awareness and training programs for all employees.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors on security assessments.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all information security matters with regulatory bodies, customers, and partners.
- Evaluate and recommend new security technologies and investments to enhance defensive capabilities.
Required Skills
- Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in information security, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., CISO, Head of Security) in a large, complex organization, preferably in the financial sector.
- Extensive knowledge of information security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, COBIT) and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing enterprise-wide security strategies and programs.
- Strong understanding of current and emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies.
- Proven track record in leading and developing high-performing security teams.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex security issues to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership.
- Ability to manage complex projects, budgets, and vendor relationships.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CGEIT, or CRISC.
- Experience with cloud security architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) and securing hybrid environments.
- Previous experience working with or within a global financial institution.
- Fluency in Dutch is a plus, but not required.
