Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef and other kitchen staff in the preparation and cooking of a wide variety of dishes, following established recipes and culinary standards.
- Perform mise en place tasks, including chopping vegetables, preparing meats, and portioning ingredients accurately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic kitchen environment at all times, adhering to all food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Support inventory management by assisting with stock rotation, receiving deliveries, and minimizing waste.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, reporting any malfunctions promptly.
- Contribute to menu development and improvement discussions with creative ideas and feedback.
- Ensure timely and efficient service delivery, especially during peak hours and events.
- Assist in dishwashing and general kitchen clean-up duties as required.
Required Skills
- Basic culinary skills and knowledge of cooking techniques
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP preferred)
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

- Knowledge of local Rwandan cuisine and ingredients
- Ability to speak Kinyarwanda
