Job Description
Pick n Pay Mossel Bay is seeking a dynamic and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Cashier. Key Responsibilities
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Handle cash, credit/debit card payments, and other forms of tender in accordance with company policies.
- Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, helpful service, answering questions and resolving minor issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked checkout area, including shelves and displays near the till.
- Scan items correctly, ensuring correct pricing and applying discounts or promotions as applicable.
- Assist with bagging groceries and ensuring customers leave with all their purchased items.
- Engage with customers to promote loyalty programs and special offers.
- Perform end-of-day till reconciliation and complete necessary paperwork accurately.
- Collaborate with store management and other team members to ensure smooth store operations.
- Participate in remote training sessions and virtual team meetings as scheduled.
- Potentially assist with digital administrative tasks or online inventory checks remotely as part of the hybrid model.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a customer service or retail environment (cashier experience preferred but not essential).
- Basic mathematical skills and ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customer-centric approach with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure gracefully.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Basic computer literacy for POS systems and potential remote tasks.
