Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and Certified Carpenter to join our dynamic construction team in Yenagoa, Bayelsa. As a Certified Carpenter at DABAKOL CONSTRUCTIONS LIMITED, you will be instrumental in all phases of our building projects, from initial framing to final finishes, ensuring both structural integrity and aesthetic excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood, laminates, and other materials with precision.
- Install structures and fixtures such as windows, doors, frames, flooring, trim, and hardware.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding, shoring, and other temporary structures safely.
- Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures, ensuring structural integrity.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction professionals including plumbers, electricians, and masons to ensure project cohesion.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as local building codes and regulations.
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Troubleshoot and resolve carpentry-related issues on site, proposing practical and effective solutions.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Carpenter, with valid certification (e.g., Trade Test Certificate).
- In-depth knowledge of carpentry techniques, methods, and best practices.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Expertise in using and maintaining a wide range of hand and power tools (e.g., saws, hammers, drills, routers, sanders, levels).
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and common construction site hazards.
- Excellent physical condition, stamina, and manual dexterity.
- Exceptional attention to detail and precision in workmanship.
- Good mathematical skills for accurate measurements, calculations, and material estimation.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a crucial member of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade Test Certificate I, II, or III in Carpentry and Joinery.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in commercial or residential construction projects.
- Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and quality standards in Bayelsa State.
- Ability to operate heavy carpentry machinery (e.g., panel saws, planers) if applicable.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
