Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate heavy-duty vehicles, including trucks and trailers, to transport cargo across specified routes.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere strictly to all national and local traffic laws, regulations, and company safety policies.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving activities, cargo details, delivery schedules, and vehicle maintenance records.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and clients regarding delivery status, potential delays, or any issues encountered on the road.
- Handle delivery documentation, including waybills, invoices, and permits, ensuring their accuracy and proper submission.
- Monitor vehicle performance and report any malfunctions or required maintenance promptly.
- Represent the company professionally during deliveries and interactions with clients.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods while optimizing routes for efficiency and fuel consumption.
Required Skills
- Valid Class G or equivalent heavy vehicle driving license
- Minimum of 2 years of professional cargo driving experience
- Clean driving record with no major traffic violations
- Proficient in vehicle inspection and basic maintenance checks
- Excellent knowledge of traffic laws and road safety regulations
- Strong geographical knowledge of Siaya County and surrounding regions
- Ability to operate vehicles safely in diverse weather and road conditions
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliability and punctuality
