Job Description
We are seeking a highly responsible, discreet, and proactive Caretaker for a prestigious private estate located in Jibowu, Yaba. This is a unique live-in opportunity that includes room and board, making it ideal for an individual looking for stability and an immersive role within a secure and well-maintained environment. As the dedicated caretaker, you will be the guardian of this beautiful property, ensuring its smooth operation, security, and immaculate presentation at all times. Your primary mission will be to maintain the estate to the highest standards, anticipating needs and addressing potential issues before they arise. This role requires a meticulous eye for detail, a strong sense of initiative, and the ability to work independently while upholding the utmost discretion and professionalism.
Beyond routine maintenance, you will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of the estate’s functionality, from supervising external vendors and contractors to managing minor repairs and ensuring all systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.) are in perfect working order. You will act as the first point of contact for any property-related concerns, demonstrating problem-solving skills and resourcefulness. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of practical skills, a customer service-oriented mindset, and an unwavering commitment to maintaining the privacy and tranquility of the residents. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine daily checks and inspections of the entire estate, including grounds, gardens, and all indoor facilities.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks (e.g., plumbing fixes, electrical troubleshooting, painting touch-ups, carpentry).
- Oversee and coordinate external contractors (gardeners, cleaners, security personnel, electricians, plumbers) ensuring work is completed to satisfaction.
- Manage household inventory, supplies, and equipment, ensuring everything is well-stocked and functional.
- Ensure the security of the property at all times, including monitoring surveillance systems and access points.
- Maintain swimming pool cleanliness and chemical balance (if applicable).
- Handle waste management and ensure proper disposal and recycling procedures.
- Assist with preparation for events or guest arrivals, ensuring the property is pristine.
- Address urgent issues or emergencies promptly and effectively, coordinating with relevant services if necessary.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and expenditures.
- Ensure all utilities (water, electricity, gas) are functioning efficiently and report any abnormalities.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a caretaker, facility manager, or similar role in a private residence or commercial property.
- Strong practical skills in basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general handyman tasks.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot common property maintenance issues.
- Demonstrated reliability, trustworthiness, and discretion.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in basic record-keeping and inventory management.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and prolonged standing.
