Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance.
- Assist clients with medication reminders and management.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as required.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, ensuring a clean and safe living environment.
- Provide companionship and engage clients in stimulating activities and conversations.
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, and social outings.
- Monitor and report changes in client health, behaviour, or needs to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided.
- Adhere strictly to Medwell SA's policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in elderly care or a similar support role (minimum 6 months).
- Exceptional empathy, patience, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Valid driver's license and own reliable transport (preferred, but not always essential depending on client location).
- Basic understanding of first aid and emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal qualification in Home Based Care, Auxiliary Nursing, or a related field.
- Experience working with clients with specific conditions such as dementia, Parkinson's, or stroke recovery.
- Proficiency in additional South African languages.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
