Key Responsibilities
- Assist the lead Camera Operator with equipment setup, breakdown, and transport.
- Manage and organise camera equipment, lenses, batteries, and accessories.
- Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of camera gear to ensure optimal performance.
- Help with lighting setups, positioning, and adjustments as directed by the crew.
- Support sound recording efforts, including microphone placement and monitoring audio levels.
- Operate secondary cameras, tripods, gimbals, or other support equipment under supervision.
- Assist with shot logging, data wrangling, and media management post-production.
- Ensure the safety of equipment and personnel on set.
- Anticipate needs of the Camera Operator and wider production team.
- Assist in the preparation of call sheets, shot lists, and other production documents.
- Run errands and provide general on-set support to maintain smooth workflow.
Required Skills
- Strong interest and basic understanding of film and video production.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina to lift and carry camera equipment (up to 25kg).
- Punctuality and reliability.
- Eagerness to learn and take initiative.
- Basic knowledge of camera types and accessories (DSLR, Mirrorless, Camcorders).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with photography or videography (even amateur projects or coursework).
- Enrolment in or completion of a relevant media production or film studies course.
- Familiarity with various types of film and video equipment.
- A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
- Basic understanding of lighting and sound principles.
