Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Butcher to join our team at our Iyaganku GRA, Ibadan location. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of meat preparation and handling, ensuring the highest standards of quality, hygiene, and customer service. This is a hands-on role that requires a passion for meat and a commitment to providing an exceptional shopping experience for our customers. You will work closely with the store manager and other team members to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient meat department.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and displaying a wide variety of meat cuts and products
- Maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and food safety
- Ensuring proper storage and handling of meat to prevent spoilage
- Grinding and processing meats as required
- Assisting customers with their meat selections and providing expert advice
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area
- Ordering and managing meat stock levels
- Following all company policies and procedures
- Working effectively as part of a team
- Contributing to a positive and welcoming shopping environment
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a butcher in a supermarket or similar environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of various meat cuts and preparation techniques
- Exceptional knife skills and meat handling expertise
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Excellent customer service skills and communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift heavy objects
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant vocational training or certification in butchery
- Experience with meat ordering and inventory management
