Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Analyst with a strong background in Agile methodologies to join our dynamic team in Melbourne. This pivotal role will be instrumental in translating strategic business objectives into tangible requirements and solutions, working closely with various stakeholders across our organisation. You will be embedded within a cross-functional Agile squad, playing a critical role in the end-to-end delivery lifecycle of innovative products and services. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical skills, a deep understanding of Agile principles, and the ability to effectively communicate complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences. You will be responsible for facilitating workshops, documenting user stories, managing product backlogs, and ensuring alignment between business needs and technological solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate and lead requirements gathering workshops, interviews, and brainstorming sessions with business stakeholders.
- Translate high-level business requirements into detailed functional and non-functional specifications, user stories, use cases, and process flows.
- Act as a bridge between business users and technical development teams, ensuring clear communication and understanding.
- Collaborate with Product Owners and Agile teams to define, refine, and prioritise product backlogs, epics, and user stories.
- Participate actively in all Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Conduct thorough business process analysis, identify inefficiencies, and propose solutions for improvement.
- Support the QA and testing phases by reviewing test cases and helping to resolve defects, ensuring solutions meet business requirements.
- Analyse data to identify trends, opportunities, and inform decision-making processes.
- Manage and maintain requirements documentation throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
- Provide ongoing support to the business post-implementation, addressing queries and facilitating continuous improvement.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst, specifically within an Agile environment (Scrum, Kanban).
- Strong understanding of Agile principles, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex issues.
- Demonstrated ability to elicit, analyse, document, and manage business requirements.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in creating user stories, use cases, process maps, and data flow diagrams.
- Experience in facilitating workshops and driving consensus among diverse groups.
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) in an Agile context.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Agile certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Agile certification).
- Experience within the financial services or banking industry.
- Familiarity with data modelling concepts and techniques.
- Experience with UI/UX principles and design thinking methodologies.
