Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial transactions, accounting operations, and financial reporting for the university.
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive financial policies, procedures, and internal control systems.
- Prepare and manage the university's annual budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation and fiscal discipline.
- Manage treasury functions, including cash flow management, investments, and banking relationships.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, IPSAS).
- Provide strategic financial advice and support to the Vice-Chancellor, Governing Council, and other senior management.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise the Bursary department staff, fostering professional development and high performance.
- Coordinate external audits, ensuring timely completion and implementation of audit recommendations.
- Monitor revenue generation activities and expenditure patterns to identify areas for efficiency and improvement.
- Oversee the management of student fees, grants, donations, and other income sources.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
