In this role, you will be responsible for laying bricks, concrete blocks, and other building materials to construct or repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches, and other structures. You will be expected to interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and specifications with accuracy, translating architectural visions into tangible realities. Key Responsibilities
- Lay bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and other building materials to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches, and other structures.
- Measure distances, calculate angles, and determine plumb and level lines, using various tools.
- Prepare and clean work sites, ensuring all materials and equipment are safely handled and stored.
- Mix mortar and other compounds according to specifications.
- Cut and trim bricks, concrete blocks, and other materials to fit, using hand and power tools.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials required and placement of masonry.
- Check vertical and horizontal alignment of courses, using plumb-bobs, levels, and straightedges.
- Remove excess mortar and clean finished surfaces.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate effectively with site managers, foremen, and other construction team members.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Bricklayer or Mason.
- Proficiency in various bricklaying techniques and masonry practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings accurately.
- Strong understanding of building codes and safety regulations.
- Excellent physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Attention to detail and precision in work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills on-site.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant Trade Certificate or Diploma in Bricklaying/Masonry.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Experience with different types of masonry materials (e.g., natural stone, concrete blocks).
- Familiarity with modern construction tools and technologies.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience working on large-scale commercial or civil projects.
