Career.supersecrets is seeking a highly skilled and responsible Boatman to join our client’s dynamic team operating out of Dibba Al-Fujairah, Fujairah. This pivotal role involves the safe and efficient operation of various marine vessels, supporting a diverse range of activities including leisure cruises, fishing charters, snorkeling excursions, and essential marine logistical tasks. As a Boatman, you will be the cornerstone of our maritime operations, ensuring passenger safety, vessel integrity, and an unforgettable experience for all onboard. Your day will begin with thorough vessel inspections, checking fuel levels, engine performance, safety equipment, and general readiness. You will be responsible for meticulous navigation through the stunning waters of Dibba Al-Fujairah, adhering strictly to local maritime laws and safety protocols. This includes a deep understanding of tides, currents, weather patterns, and local marine hazards.
Beyond technical expertise, this role demands exceptional customer service skills. You will interact regularly with guests, providing clear safety briefings, sharing insights about the local marine environment, and responding promptly to any needs or concerns. Maintaining the cleanliness and presentability of the vessel throughout the day is also crucial. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive approach to minor maintenance and repairs, capable of identifying and resolving common mechanical issues to minimize downtime. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate various types of marine vessels, including fishing boats, leisure yachts, and small passenger boats, in the waters of Dibba Al-Fujairah.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vessel inspections, ensuring all equipment, safety gear, and navigation systems are in optimal working condition.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, minor repairs, and troubleshooting of marine engines, electrical systems, and plumbing.
- Adhere strictly to all local and international maritime regulations, safety protocols, and company policies.
- Provide clear and comprehensive safety briefings to passengers and ensure their well-being throughout the duration of the trip.
- Navigate vessels precisely, considering weather conditions, tides, currents, and local marine traffic.
- Maintain accurate logs of vessel operations, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure the cleanliness and presentability of the vessel at all times.
- Assist with mooring, docking, and anchoring procedures.
- Act as a knowledgeable and courteous point of contact for passengers, providing local information and ensuring a positive experience.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations, including man overboard, fire, and medical incidents, following established procedures.
- Handle fishing gear, snorkeling equipment, and other marine activity provisions as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Boatman, Captain, or similar role in a maritime environment.
- Valid UAE marine driving license/certificate for relevant vessel types.
- Strong knowledge of maritime safety regulations and navigation principles.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining marine engines and systems.
- Excellent navigation skills, including familiarity with GPS and charting equipment.
- Ability to perform basic vessel maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Physical fitness and ability to work in varying weather conditions.
- Commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable marine practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience operating boats in the Dibba Al-Fujairah or Fujairah coastal areas.
- Additional certifications such as Marine Radio Operator.
- Experience with fishing charters or marine tourism operations.
- Knowledge of local marine life and conservation efforts.
- Fluency in Arabic in addition to English.
