AS “Grindeks” is seeking a dedicated Biotechnology Laboratory Technician to join our innovative Research and Development team in Rīga. As a Biotechnology Laboratory Technician, you will perform a variety of laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses following established protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Your day-to-day activities will involve preparing samples, conducting biochemical assays, performing cell culture maintenance, operating sophisticated analytical instruments, and meticulously recording data. Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses in molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology.
- Prepare samples, reagents, and media according to established protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment such as PCR machines, spectrophotometers, centrifuges, and cell culture incubators.
- Conduct cell culture maintenance, including aseptic techniques, cell line propagation, and cryopreservation.
- Accurately record, compile, and analyze experimental data, ensuring data integrity and traceability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with equipment or experimental procedures under supervision.
- Adhere strictly to laboratory safety regulations, quality control standards, and good laboratory practices (GLP).
- Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents, ensuring proper storage and disposal.
- Assist in the development and optimization of new experimental protocols and methodologies.
- Collaborate effectively with research scientists and other team members to achieve project goals.
- Prepare clear and concise reports on experimental results and observations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 2 years of practical experience in a biotechnology or life sciences laboratory setting.
- Proficiency in aseptic techniques and cell culture.
- Demonstrated experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA/RNA extraction).
- Familiarity with biochemical assay principles and execution.
- Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and GLP.
- Excellent observational skills, attention to detail, and data recording accuracy.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot common laboratory equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for data management and reporting.
- Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Experience with advanced analytical instruments (e.g., HPLC, GC-MS).
