Job Description
We are urgently seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Barista to join a bustling coffee shop in Rubavu, Western Province. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, including espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and other specialty beverages, following established recipes and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee-making equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper functioning.
- Take customer orders accurately, process payments using a POS system, and handle cash and card transactions efficiently.
- Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, providing recommendations and ensuring a positive experience.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, coffee bar, and seating area, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Monitor inventory of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies, reporting needs to management.
- Assist with opening and closing duties of the coffee shop, including cleaning, stocking, and preparing for the next shift.
- Educate customers about various coffee beans, brewing methods, and available products.
- Resolve customer complaints or concerns promptly and courteously.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and excellent service during peak hours.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Barista, preferably in a busy coffee shop environment.
- Exceptional knowledge of coffee preparation techniques, including espresso extraction and milk steaming/texturing.
- Ability to perform latte art is a strong advantage.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency in operating POS systems and handling cash transactions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of quality and cleanliness.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic food hygiene and safety knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality-related certifications are a plus.
- Experience with specialty coffee roasts and unique brewing methods.
- Multilingual abilities, especially Kinyarwanda and English, to better serve a diverse clientele.
